Located in Northern Humboldt, our family owned and operated business benefits from over 20 years of experience in the cannabis industry. This knowledge is reflected in the quality and consistency of our hand crafted, small-batch beauty and wellness products. We make our wellness products in-house using premium organic whole plant extracts in a base of cold-pressed, virgin, organic oils and cannabis flower direct from our farm. We are committed to supporting organic farming methods, organic ingredients, and offering safe, lab-tested products to our community. We source hemp CBD from the United States. Our Hemp CBD Line contains between 0-0.3% THC (in compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill). Our THC-rich products are available in licensed dispensaries throughout California, including Kiskanu Retail Dispensary in Eureka.

At Kiskanu, we avoid plastic packaging—as much as possible with the strict packaging laws in place. Our paper tubes, cardboard boxes, and glass jars are all reusable or recyclable. We utilize QR codes to reduce our paper waste. Our facilities are dedicated to using minimal paper products, avoiding single-use plastic in production, in our employee kitchen and in our restrooms. We recycle everything possible.

Rather than isolates or concentrates, we believe in the effectiveness of whole plant medicine to imbue healing qualities into our products. We have chosen the formulations to address a wide variety of ailments or concerns that many of us face. Along with our mission to keep Kiskanu as sustainable as possible, we hope to make our products just as accessible. We are passionate to share with the world the therapeutic qualities of the cannabis plant we have always believed in.

THE SACRED KISKANU TREE

In ancient Sumeria there was a sacred tree, the Kiskanu Tree, whose branches were used in ritual sprinklings. It is believed to have been the Biblical “Tree of Life” in the Garden of Eden. The name of the tree, “Kiskanu”, serves as our connection between the Tree of Life and Cannabis. The Kiskanu tree was the central point of various rites. A holy grove in the temple is mentioned.

The second part of the name of this notable tree, “kanu” has phonetic similarities with the early names for Cannabis, through the linguistic root “an”, which is found in various cannabis related words; such as the ancient Sanskrit name for hemp “kana”, or “kene”, Persian “canna”, and the original Assyro-Babylonia name for hemp “kannab”, later becoming “qunubu”.
